The Oaklyn Neighborhood in Raleigh NC is connected to Whitehart, and many people think they are the same community. Oaklyn was developed prior to Whitehart in 1993, and has many of the same characteristics with exception of not having a swimming pool. Having on 39 homes, Oaklyn is a smaller, more spread out community where the lot sizes tend to run larger.

The price range in Oaklyn is also right under Whitehart due to being a bit older, but no less in value! Buyers have chosen Oaklyn because of the rolling topography and beautiful settings that many homes provide. If you are looking to have or put in a swimming pool, this is a great place to do it! The Oaklyn has an array of three and four bedroom plans, many with a bonus area. The size range is 2200 to 3000 square foot on the larger side. We mark this neighborhood as a good value based on being able to find a nice home that was most likely originally built by one of Raleigh’s custom builders, plus the large lot sizes that each home provides.

As I’ve stated previously, land & privacy are getting harder to find, and Oaklyn is one of those neighborhoods that we see holding its value long term! Within the next 4-5 years, the I-540 expressway will be within a couple miles of Oaklyn, plus the surrounding area continues to grow with quality shopping. There are actually four Harris Teeter grocery stores within 10 minutes! Because there are only 39 homes in Oaklyn, they do not come on the market very often.

So, if you are looking to be in south Raleigh and see a home listed in Oaklyn in your price range, make sure to add it your list of homes to tour!
